On behalf of our Client, we are currently recruiting for a Manager, Knowledge Management Governance
& Architecture.Reporting to the Director, Knowledge Management, the Manager, Knowledge Management Governance & Architecture is responsible for developing a Knowledge Management (KM) framework to support the corporate strategy. This includes setting the vision and directing the implementation of a corporate KM architecture and governance model with supporting policies, practices, standards, and risk management strategies.

The Manager, KM Governance & Architecture leads the development of a multi-phased strategy and awareness plan, and is accountable for the implementation and governance of the corporate knowledge-sharing technologies and platforms, such as internal and external facing portals, corporate learning management systems, social media, intranet and internet, and related processes. The Manager is also responsible for the effective delivery of web solutions, including web applications, SharePoint solutions and technical support, visual communications and graphic and interactive design.

Key Accountabilities

Accountability 1: Corporate Technologies & Platforms

  • Directs the activities of two business units responsible for the development and delivery of corporate website infrastructure and architecture including visual communications, graphic and interactive design, web application and e-learning development standards and practices
  • Creates the corporate social media policy, guidelines and standards for internal staff and input for items related to external stakeholders
  • Works closely with other managers throughout the organization to ensure that appropriate technologies are in place to facilitate the development and distribution of corporate business knowledge
  • Works closely with IT management to establish policies and direction, and provides input into corporate information technology recommendations
  • Makes recommendations for ongoing change to corporate web platforms to meet changing corporate knowledge needs

Accountability 2: Knowledge Management Framework and Evaluation

  • Accountable for the creation of a framework and metrics for the ongoing evaluation, performance management, and return of investment for KM programs and solutions
  • Develops governance processes to record, maintain, and report on production statistics and customer or stakeholder satisfaction
  • Works closely with KM Service Delivery Managers to ensure that all developed KM solutions meet standards methodologies set out in the framework. Collaborates on the evaluation and measurement of programs
  • Provides reports and recommendations regarding the productivity, cost savings, and other metrics within KMS and the impact of KM programs throughout the corporation
  • Reviews and makes recommendations for ongoing changes to the KM framework to ensure that KM strategy continues to meet the requirements of the corporation

Accountability 3: General Leadership

  • Manages a significant operating budget, participates in planning, budgeting for special projects, and improvement initiatives
  • Supervises, coaches, and conducts performance evaluations of direct reports
  • Responsible for hiring, performance management, and development planning of staff, ensuring that the technical expertise of the unit is maintained
  • Reviews team processes and practices to ensure efficiency and ongoing improvement, ensuring that activities comply with company directives, policies and procedures
  • Supports managers and supervisors in performance management activities, including the use of coaching techniques throughout the department
  • Supports the development of the department by participating in updating and prioritizing the directional plan

Education and Experience

  • Degree in a related field such as computer or information science, a master’s degree would be considered an asset
  • Additional courses in knowledge management, human resources, communications or business administration
  • Eight years of experience in information or KM practices and technology within a large organization
  • Five years of experience in a strategic leadership position, managing large projects and operational teams
  • Ability to turn ideas into workable solutions focusing on enhancing the productivity of the end-user
  • Experience improving the performance of the knowledge-centric organization by pulling together people, process and technology
  • Ability to foster client relationships and manage all aspects of change
  • Strong leadership, critical thinking, conflict resolution, project and time management skills
  • Working knowledge of the architectures, technologies, standards and protocols for KM
  • Sound understanding of web technologies and standards and superior negotiation skills
  • Understanding of the insurance industry and business processes is an asset
