Blake Melnick

Blake Melnick OCT, CKM,  B.A., B.Ed, M.Ed -  President / Chief Knowledge Officer

A knowledgeable executive, educator and entrepreneur with over 20 years experience in Knowledge Management, Business and Education. Blake has performed in senior management roles as Chief Executive Officer, President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Knowledge Officer in the Aerospace, Energy, Healthcare, Business and Education Sectors. Presenter at over 40 conferences world wide on subjects ranging from Knowledge Management, E-learning, Training, The Knowledge Economy, Learning Technologies, and Organizational Learning and Change Management. In addition to his responsibilities with the Institute, Blake is the Senior Advisor for Knowledge Management and Organizational Effectiveness at Husky Energy.





Arlo Kempf - Director of Research

Arlo Kempf is a Banting Postdoctoral research fellow at the University of California, Los Angeles. He received his PhD from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, of the University of Toronto in 2010. He has taught at the University of Toronto and Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.

Kempf’s recent publications include 'The Politics of Cultural Knowledge', co-edited with Njoki Wane and Marlon Simmons (Sense, 2011); 'Breaching the Colonial Contract: Anti-Colonialism in the US and Canada' (Springer 2009); 'Guest worker programs and Canada: Towards a foundation for understanding the complex pedagogies of transnational labour', co-authored with Peter Sawchuk (Journal of Workplace Learning, 2009); and 'Australia and France on fire: An anti-Colonial critique', co-authored with George Dei (International Education, 2006).







Madelaine Thomas - Office Administration / Program Coordination

As a recent graduate of Queen’s University, Madelaine’s interests lie in Canada’s cultural sector. She is keen to examine the role of Knowledge Management in keeping Canadian museums, galleries and other such institutions fiscally productive, innovative and globally competitive.


Najmeh Fakhrale, B.Sc, M.A (Intern) Program Coordinator - Student Training and Instruction

Najmeh's expertise and passion lie in instructional design, training, curriculum design and user interface testing.  Najmeh professional experience includes: working as an instructional designer with Yavaran NGO, Project Coordinator for the Knowledge eCommons Lab at OISE/UT and as a Knowledge Management Co-ordinator with The Department of Peacekeeping Operations, United Nations Headquarters in New York City.


Cherry Rose Tan B.Sc, M.A. - KMIC Fellow

Cherry's passion lies with the development of learning communities that create and teach innovation. Cherry worked as a graduate research assistant with the Institute of Knowledge Innovation and Technology at OISE/UT. Cherry's vision for 2020 university classroom is one that implements innovation as its goal and knowledge building as its pedagogy. Students should come together to share ideas because it is through multiple perspectives (your ideas and those opposed to them) that you can advance knowledge. Furthermore, in order to innovate, learning must be made meaningful.





Tony Kerekes - Principal -  Project Management / HR

Tony provides human resources training and consulting expertise, drawing on his corporate experience as a human resources professional, and his line roles as an account manager and head of customer service. His focus is always on developing employees who are informed, engaged and aligned to the organization's brand promise and strategy.

Prior to consulting in 1994, Tony worked at a number of large firms in increasingly senior business and human resources roles. In his last corporate role Tony held responsibilities for  training and designing and implementing a new organization-wide culture transformation and service delivery model.

Tony has worked with a range of clients to provide practical and implementable solutions to HR opportunities and challenges.
Tony has served as the President of the Human Resources Professionals of York Region, key policy committees of the Toronto Board of Trade and on the Board of Toronto HR Professionals Association. He has been featured in the Globe and Mail and other publications.



Angelo Katsaros - Senior Designer

Angelo Katsaros is a Senior Graphic and Web Designer, Developer and Project Manager with 15 + years experience in broad range of Industry sectors. Angelo specializes in Advanced User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design for the web.
